Director Scott Derrickson partnered with Insidious and Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum for the horror follow up to The Exorcism of Emily Rose, a still untitled, small budget horror feature that he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill.
Derrickson remained mum on details about his upcoming horror movie but The Hollywood Reporter did reveal that Ethan Hawke joined the cast.
Blum signed on to produce along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik Entertainment and Charles Layton.
Hawke’s last horror movie was the vampire thriller Daybreakers from co-directors Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig.
Hawke recently wrapped the Encore miniseries of Moby Dick opposite William Hurt.
Up next for Hawke is a role opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in director Pawel Pawlikowski’s The Woman in the Fifth, about a college professor who moves to Paris to escape a scandal.
He is currently filming director Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake with Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.
