Elvis & Nixon casts Eric Bana and Danny Huston as Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon
Cary Elwes, star of the beloved The Princess Bride and Saw, among others, is set to make his feature directorial debut, scripting alongside Joey Sagal and Hanala Sagal.
Benaroya Pictures' Michael Benaroya finances with Holly Wiersma while Bana is set to serve as an executive producer as well with his Pick Up Truck Pictures. This will be the company's first U.S. production, reports Variety.
Inspired by a true historical event when Elvis Presley traveled to Washington D.C. on December 21st, 1970, to meet President Nixon at the White House.
Presley initiated the meeting by writing Nixon a six-page letter, making a request for the visit and suggesting that he be made a "Federal Agent-at-Large" in the Bureau if Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Presley took some family pics with him, as well as a Colt 45 pistol which he gifted to Nixon.
Apparently this meeting and how it came to pass fascinated Elwes. This will be shot in LA and Shreveport, Louisiana, but there's no start date set in stone as yet.
