Clint Eastwood tackled musical oriented dramas before like Bird starring Forest Whitaker as Jazz musician Charlie Parker and Honkytonk Man where he played a Country Western singer during the depression.
According to DEADLINE, Eastwood signed on to direct the latest version of A Star Is Born with Beyoncé in the female lead role and a script by Will Fetters.
No word yet on a male lead, although Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Hamm have reportedly been mentioned as the fading, troubled star involved with a fast-rising female star.
Eastwood’s take on A Star Is Born would be the fourth version for Warner Bros; a project that’s been discussed for awhile with Nick Cassavetes once attached to direct.
Earlier, Eastwood continued casting his supporting roles including Josh Lucas to play opposite Leonardo DiCaprio's FBI Director J Edgar Hoover in his new historical drama J Edgar.
Fans what do you think of Eastwood directing A Star Is Born? More importantly, who should headline opposite Beyoncé?
