Director Joss Whedon received most of the questions in the recent THE AVENGERS Global Fan Chat via Twitter and answered them all in his trademark, smart-aleck manner.
When asked if the movie draws from a classic Avengers comic or is more of an “ultimate-ized” combination story, Whedon summed up the movie playfully without giving away any plot details.
“It’s a combo platter: classic, Ultimate, plus a little “Richie Rich” & “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” Whedon tweeted.
Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston, who plays Thor’s evil brother Loki and Clark Gregg, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson joined Whedon on the global chat.
While Jackson and Hiddleston nearly matched Whedon in the number of questions from the fan base, Gregg delivered the one spoiler tidbit from the chat.
"Meeting some skrull friends for lunch,” Gregg tweeted right before the end of the chat. “Thanks for all the support! Coulson out!”
Fans, are you excited about Gregg’s Twitter confirmation that the alien race known as the Skrulls would indeed be joining Loki as the main villains of The Avengers? Do you expect to see the Skrulls in the Super Bowl ad?
The Avengers, featuring the Marvel Universe heroes Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), hits theaters May 4, 2012 in 3D in addition to 2D and an IMAX run.
