With HBO recently renewing its hit fantasy series Game of Thrones for a second season, the rumor mill heated up with possible cast additions to the acclaimed series based on the books by George R.R. Martin.
According to Den of Geek, former Doctor Who lead Christopher Eccleston continued talks to join Game of Thrones and fans started the guesswork over which character he would play.
Fans predicted that Eccleston would join the show as Balon Greyjoy, Theon Greyjoy’s father and the Lord of the Iron Islands, or Stannis Baratheon, Robert Baratheon’s brother and the potential heir to the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms.
Eccleston wasn’t the only Doctor Who cast member rumored to join Game of Thrones.
Tony Curran, who played Vincent van Gogh in the Doctor Who episode Vincent and the Doctor, was also rumored to join Game of Thrones.
Recently, Natalie Dormer, who played Anne Boleyn on The Tudors, joined the show as Margaery Tyrell.
