Catherine Hardwicke continued to be one of the more eclectic filmmakers around since acquiring a rapid fan base for her work directing Twilight and helping launch The Twilight Saga franchise.
EW reported today that Hardwicke joined AMC’s period drama Hell on Wheels, set in the 1860s against the backdrop of the construction of the transcontinental railroad. Hardwicke signed on to direct the fourth episode of the upcoming second season of the AMC drama.
Recently, Hardwicke signed 23-year-old Australian actress Emily Browning to Plush, her thriller about a psychic psychologist who reads patient memories in order to unleash past demons. Browning looked to join the film as a teenage patient with powers equal to her psychic doctor.
Hardwicke co-wrote the drama with Artie Nelson with I.M. Global busy selling distribution rights at Cannes. Hardwicke also remained attached to direct the boxing drama Knockout as well as The Maze Runner, an adaptation of Noah Oppenheim’s popular young adult novel.
The second season of Hell on Wheels debuts August 12 on AMC.
