Warner Bros. recently rewarded Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton for the solid success of his 3D family adventure by hiring him to direct its sequel, Journey 3. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed another high-profile directing gig when Peyton signed on to helm San Andreas 3D, reportedly budgeted over $100 million and promising state-of-the-art 3D effects.
Screenwriter Jeremy Passmore co-wrote the script with Andre Fabrizio. Veteran writer Allan Loeb, responsible for recent comedies Just Go With It, The Dilemma and The Switch, joined the project to polish the original draft.
Beau Flynn (Red Dawn, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Solace) signed on to produce San Andreas 3D along with Tripp Vinson.
Peyton also agreed to direct Lobo, based on the '90s DC comic book about an alien bounty hunter, with Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman producing.
To those action fans curious about San Andreas 3D, I recommend they watch the 1974 action movie Earthquake starring Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy and Lorne Greene.
