This weekend's box office sees two films vying for top spot honors, sitting on opposite side of the ratings board. Warner Bros. Pictures' The Hangover Part II is already making waves, having snagged the highest gross for an R-rated film from a midnight showing to date, pulling in a hefty $10.4 million from a single day.
The Todd Phillips comedy debuts in 3,615 theaters, starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Paul Giamatti, Jamie Chung, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike Tyson and Nick Cassavetes.

Kung Fu Panda 2 finds 310 theaters movie, opening in 3,925 locations. The animated family adventure comedy has been well-received by critics so far while the same can't be said for The Hangover sequel. Star-packed voice cast in the Jennifer Yuh Nelson pic includes Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Gary Oldman, Michelle Yeoh, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Victor Garber.
Both films go against Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures current front runner Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which should show up in third place come Sunday weekend estimates.
The rest of the field holds releases in limited venues, with Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life from Fox Searchlight, looking for a hefty per theater average, from just 4 venues playing. Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jessica Chastain, Kari Matchett and Fiona Shaw star.
