Superhero fans anxious for Arrow, the CW action drama based on the DC comic book GREEN ARROW, received good news out of Comic-Con this weekend. According to Deadline, X2: X-Men United actress Kelly Hu joined the series as the villain China White, a South Pacific drug lord who operates from a Fiji Island volcano. China White appeared in the Green Arrow: Year One graphic novels.
Hu joined Stephen Amell, recently seen in episodes of Private Practice, the CW series The Vampire Diaries and HBO drama Hung, who signed on to play Oliver Queen, a liberal billionaire who secretly fights crime as the masked archer extraordinaire known as the Green Arrow.
Greg Berlanti co-wrote the pilot with Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, telling the story of Oliver Queen's return after being trapped on a deserted island after a sea disaster that took the life of his father and allowed the villainous Walter Steele (Colin Salmon) to take charge of the family company and remarry Queen's mother.
Green Arrow looked to be the first DC Comics hero to return to The CW since its Superman series Smallville finished its 10-year run.
