Anthony Mackie is set to join Marvel Studios' "Captain America" sequel where he'll join Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan, and could play Falcon, one of Marvel's first African American superheroes, reports Variety.
Stan is reprising his role as Bucky, who now turns into brainwashed assassin Winter Soldier in the Joe and Anthony Russo-helmed actioner which opens April 4th, 2014.
The Falcon was created by Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan, and first introduced in Captain America #117 back in September, 1969. The character who once aided Captain America as his partner, originally used a wing harness with detachable jet-powered glider wings, and has the ability to speak to birds.
Mackie's currently in Fox's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and is up next in Warner Bros. Pictures' "Gangster Squad" alongside Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Giovanni Ribisi, Josh Brolin and Nick Nolte. He's also in "Pain and Gain" from "Transformers" helmer and Michael Bay, opposite Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
