Batman fans worldwide celebrated the exciting news when The LOS ANGELES TIMES announced actress Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan also announced that his Inception star Tom Hardy would play Bane.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” Nolan said. “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Earlier, Christian Bale spoke about how this Batman adventure would be the last film in the series.
"This will be, I believe, until Chris (Nolan) says different, the last time I'll be playing Batman so went to go all out with it and try to figure a way how to up what we did before," Bale said. "You've always got to up it. I'm excited for it. That's the problem. It's the complacency when you start getting into franchise stories like that. You have to have the energy of making it like it's the only film."
The Dark Knight Rises, with a script by Nolan and his brother Jonathan Nolan, is reportedly set for a production start in Los Angeles in May 2011.
