Celebrity actress and United Nations goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie stayed busy promoting her feature-film, directing debut IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY, the story of a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the 1992-'95 Bosnian war.
Jolie told the 24 Frames blog at The L.A. Times that while she enjoyed immensely the experience of writing, directing and producing In the Land of Blood and Honey she planned to be very picky about choosing future directing projects.
“I love political subject matter, international work where I learn about other countries and foreign affairs,” Jolie said. “I don’t know if I would be interested in directing something where I wasn’t forced to get a huge education.”
Jolie shared how much she enjoyed “not acting” in the movie and hinted at her next directing gig, a script she wrote about Afghanistan. In the meantime, Jolie remained busy lining up future acting roles.
Jolie continued talks to headline director Ridley Scott's biopic of British blue blood and World War I spy Gertrude Bell as well as Maleficent for Disney, an action movie with director Luc Besson and a drama based on Patricia Cornwell's popular character Kay Scarpetta for Fox.
In The Land Of Blood And Honey, Jolie's directing debut, released in the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language, opens in select cinemas today via FilmDistrict.
