Alexandra Maria Lara will star in Ron Howard's Formula One drama Rush, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl.
In the Peter Morgan-written drama set in the 1970s, the film follows the rivalry between James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Austrian racer Niki Lauda (Bruhl). After Lauda almost died in a fiery 1976 crash, he returned a mere six weeks later to take on Hunt.
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard of Imagine Entertainment are producing alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title as well as Cross Creek's Brian Oliver.
There's no distributor in place for Rush, but since both Working Title and Imagine are based at Universal, it's clear where this will end up.
Lara's credits include Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth, The Reader from Stephen Daldry and Spike Lee's Miracle at St. Anna among others.
