The Vanguard casts Alexander Skarsgård of True Blood in epic Viking pitch sold to Warner Bros. Pictures.
Atlas Entertainment has preemptively sold an epic Viking pitch to Warner Bros. where Skarsgård will star and take his first step into producing, reports Variety.
The Vanguard is a working title with playwright Chris Boal writing the script which follows the adventures of two warrior brothers who travel back to Sweden after being banished in North America.
That's it as far as the story goes for now, but sources say the project is being eyed as a potential tentpole for Warners and in the vein of previous epics Best Picture winners like Braveheart and Gladiator.
Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing The Vanguard.
Alexander Skarsgård is on a hot streak, landing roles in Screen Gems' Straw Dogs remake, Universal's Battleship and and Lars von Trier's Melancholia.
