Heck lands Broadway director Alex Timbers.
Alex Timbers, helmer of "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" helmer, is in final negotiations for his directorial debut on the project, which is based on Dale E. Basye's children's book series, reports Variety.
The original draft of Heck was scripted by Bob Iserson (30 Rock) and rewritten by Chris Weitz. The story tells of a boy and his older sister who perish in a freak accident and are sent back to Heck, an afterlife reform school for children. Here, teachers include Lizzie Borden and Richard Nixon. The duo hatch a plan to escape with the aid of a friend who has a map.
The first book in the series is of four is "Heck: Where the Bad Kids Go." There's a fifth book coming in the spring.
