The trial against 36-year-old veteran car thief James Jimenez came to its conclusion today when Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jill Konviser sentenced Jimenez to four years in jail for stealing Kirsten Dunst’s $2,000 Balenciaga handbag during a 2007 shoot at the Soho Grand Hotel.
According to “The New York Post,” Jimenez failed to convince any jurors that he was “too dumb to be a crook” the second time at trial due to video footage of the crime, DNA evidence and eyewitness testimony from Dunst and others.
“I thought it was just a building,” Jimenez told jurors. “I don’t know. I thought it was construction or something.”
Jimenez’s trial goes back to 2009 and includes his arguement that he was accompanying a pot dealer to the set of "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People."
Dunst, co-star Simon Pegg and others on the crew insisted there was no pot on the set. Jimenez could have received up to seven years behind bars.
