Despite further attempts from director Alfonso Cuaron and Warner Bros executives, Angelina Jolie once again turned down their offer for her to star in the 3D sci-fi action film “Gravity.” According to “Deadline,” after offers from Cuaron that go back to when the movie was based at Universal, Jolie remained committed to directing her feature drama in Bosnia and to the many other projects on-tap including a sequel to her current action movie “Salt.”
Written by Cuaron and his son Jonas, “Gravity” tells the tale of two astronauts on a remote space station trapped outside when their fellow crewmembers are killed by debris from an exploding satellite. Robert Downey Jr. remains attached to play the crew leader with plans for production to begin after he wraps “Sherlock Holmes 2.”
As far as choosing a replacement for Jolie, Cuaron and Warner Bros have a touch task ahead of them because the part calls for the actress to be on-screen for much of the film. Rumored to be in the running for the role, now with Jolie aside, include Natalie Portman and Sandra Bullock.
